| Graduate Credit vs. CEU's/CPDUs |
|
Optional graduate professional development credit is available for many ASPD workshops and programs from one or more of our university partners. Credit for ASPD workshops may apply toward ...
- Teaching endorsements in many states
- Lane and salary advancement
- 6-9 hours of transfer credits are often accepted by many graduate programs
Graduate credits earned for ASPD programs are awarded by nationally accredited insitutions of higher education, however, transferability and acceptance of credits is determined by the accepting institution (e.g., state, school district, college), not ASPD or the institution of higher education issuing the credit.
Participants should check with the appropriate institutional representative to verify applicability and transferabilty of credits. ASPD does not provide counsel, verification, guidance, or direction in these matters at any time and accepts no responsibility in these matters.

Graduate credit vs. CEUs
Continuing education units typically have no value beyond documenting professional development. Graduate credits have wider applicability.
School districts generally accept graduate credits toward lane and salary advancement.
Colleges and universities accept graduate credits toward electives or other program requirements.
States generally accept graduate credits toward endorsements and recertification requirements within the limits of each state's laws and rules.
Note: Those intending to apply ASPD programs toward additional endorsements must register for graduate credit. |
Obtaining Graduate Credit
Graduate credit is optional and is not automatically awarded upon completion of a program.
To obtain graduate credit for ASPD programs:
- Register for the desired ASPD workshop(s) or request a customzied course be developed to address the learning needs of a group.
- Complete all workshop requirements (online assignments, and face-to-face sessions, if required).
- Register for credit with the insitution through which credit is available for your ASPD course. Directions are found in the OnlineClassroom for each course. Participants are free to select the credit granting institution of their choice when more than one institution is listed for the same course.
- All fees are paid directly to the institution, not ASPD.
- Submit the required final project.
