LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST REQUIREMENT FOR IL BILINGUAL TEACHERS

In addition to complete the coursework for the IL Bilingual Endorsement, those applying for an IL Bilingual Endorsement must ALSO demonstrate proficiency in ENGLISH and A TARGET LANGUAGE.

• DID YOU EARN YOUR DEGREE IN THE U.S., OR ARE YOU PROFICIENT IN ENGLISH?  You must pass a Test of TARGET LANGUAGE Proficiency in the target language in which you will be teaching (e.g., Spanish, Polish, Arabic, etc.)
• DID YOU EARN YOUR DEGREE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY IN WHICH COURSES WERE TAUGHT IN A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH?  You must pass a Test ENGLISH LANGUAGE Proficiency.  It is assumed you are proficient in the "other" language.
